Framing Day 4

There was one lone guy sitting in his car waiting when I pulled up this morning. I assume he's waiting for the rest of the framing crew. 

It rained last night and this morning, but the sun is coming out. I'm really happy with their progress so far. It's becoming our house before my very eyes.

Framing day 3

It's raining, again. Sigh

It's been raining off and on all day, along with some nice wind gusts. I wasn't going to even bother visiting the house but Susan sent us a text. 

It's awesome having her right there on site now. So I drove over to check out our new goodies. It looks like the trusses have been delivered. 

All I can say is "On with the show boys!!"

A Rainy Sunday

With the rain coming down and the fact that it's Sunday, there is really no point going to check on the house. 

But today is Susan's first day in her new office and I played Welcome Wagon by bringing her flowers. She was already smiling when I came in. It's been a good day at the Bluffs. 

She priced out lot #9047, just on the other side of Cathy & Johns. They want to build a Pinehurst I. The same as the spec house without the second floor bedroom and loft. They placed a lot hold so it looks like we'll get some more new neighbors. 

She also had a visit from a very excited Cathy and John. They are 10 days out from closing and thrilled beyond belief. 

More rain is expected tomorrow so it should remain all quiet until Tuesday. I'll get back to cleaning and reorganizing, prepping for the big move. 

Paint Sale!!

We are on our way to Sherwin Williams for their 40% off sale. We are thinking about 11 gallons should cover what we want to do.

There was no one to be seen at The Bluffs. I was able to get a couple pics of the progress.  I really like their use of metal beams versus the wooden ones. I've seen one too many HGTV shows where wooden beams go awry.

Framing Day 2

I went for a quick visit after work and didn't snap a picture. It looks like the only thing they accomplished today was putting up the metal beam above the office to hold the master level. Now we have HUGE tire tracks in the driveway from whatever equipment was used to put it in place. 

I did get a picture of the the Hammond model that is officially open for business this weekend. Welcome to The Bluffs. 

First day of framing

There were only two guys on site all day. I was able to speak with them about the process. They feel like they will be done with framing by the end of next week. That's just crazy fast.

My first visit at 10am

My last visit around 3pm. The crew packed up for the day just after noon.

If they are done by the end of next week, that means we have a few meetings to get scheduled quickly. 

We are able to meet with three sub-contractors and make changes by paying them directly. Everything else has to come after closing. 

So we already had our first meeting with Guardian. We will need to meet up with him again after framing, so in the next couple weeks, to decide placement of our intercom system, security system and all the other things we signed up for. To be honest it was so long ago I had to go back on my blog to remember what all we purchased. 

We will also need to meet with the electrician around the same time. I want to discuss placement of light switches with him. My boyfriend wants to add on a few things like an extra outlet for a future hot tub and motion detection lighting. 

The last sub-contractor we meet with is our landscaper. I called and left a message for him today. We want to add on a patio and some extra landscaping to our package. JP told me today that the landscaper is crazy busy this time of year and to be patient waiting to hear back. 

We ran into Susan on our last visit today. It's her day off and she's getting her new office set up. She has a pricing appointment on Saturday at The Oaks, so she will officially move in on Sunday. Here are a couple photos I was able to get at The Hammond. 

Their front door is very similar to the one we chose.  The window paneling is just slightly less detailed than ours will be.

P.S. I was able to find a paint calculator online. We will be purchasing 11 gallons of paint for the house this weekend at the Sherwin Williams sale.

It's my day off today.  I'm feeling a bit like a school age girlfriend who doesn't want to smother her new boyfriend.  I REALLY want to go over to the house to watch for signs of life.  BUT instead I am sitting at my desk daydreaming about my future home. AKA... procrastinating cleaning the house. :)

Today I started thinking about paint.  We are planning to use the incredible discounts of Memorial Day Weekend to get all of our big shopping done for the house.  We will get our appliances, furniture and paint.  The kids will be picking out their own colors.  They are probably going to settle with blue and pink, as their rooms are now.

I love soothing natural colors.  Right now I'm all about the gray.  I want a beautiful soothing gray scheme, but I want to add some natural colors like creams and taupe.  And lest we forget the old adage, "Every room needs a touch of black".  So off to Pinterest to get some ideas.

So now I have some ideas.  I would like to try to keep to the warmer gray colors.  We will be using Sherwin Williams paint, all I have to do is translate this scheme into SW colors.

Our great room will be staying Inverness White until after our 1yr inspection.  Next years tax refund will pay for that paint. :)  The rest of the house is getting painted.

I love wall designs but I'm intimidated by wallpaper.  Mostly the putting it up part, but also the idea that changing it requires having to remove it.  The only other option is stenciling.

I want to stencil the inside of my Pantry.

I love stripes, but my boyfriend is not a huge fan.  We came up with this compromise for the powder room.

I want to put a feature wall behind my washer and dryer.

I am going to "hide" some stripes in my mudroom closet.

The only problem was figuring out how or where I was going to find what I needed to make this happen.   Pinterest to the rescue.  I found a pin linking to a great stencil company.    Cutting Edge Stencils.  Their stencils are about $40 a piece.  They can be washed off and reused.

Alright I think I've let enough time pass... it's time to "casually" drive by the house and see what's up.  Then I guess I better get back to clean my kitchen and get my laundry going. 

**UPDATE**  I stopped by Sherwin Williams to pick up paint chips. I'll take them to the model home to see how well they match up to my choices. I found out they are having a 40% OFF SALE THIS WEEKEND! That's even better than their Memorial Day sale. Since I'm not sure on colors yet he said we can buy the paint this weekend and have it tinted later at no charge. I think we know what we are doing this weekend. Now how do I calculate how much we are going to need? Lol

P.S.  THEY STARTED FRAMING!!  We have mini walls. I took a pic but I'll be posting later. I want to stop by every couple of hours to record the progress. I'm using the model home visit as one excuse and I'm going to bring Frostys over to the crew later. Then I'm not just the annoying woman who keeps taking pictures.

The weather forecast is calling for light rain in the morning and showers in the afternoon for tomorrow. Friday and Saturday are all clear. Cross your fingers they get some framing done this week. Woohoo!!

It looks like they finished the front sidewalk as well. It's been a good day at The Bluffs. 

Seeing red

I stopped by to check on the progress. We still have a giant hole in our yard. 

There was a delivery truck in front of the Hammond model. I sent Susan a text to tell her she was getting furniture. Apparently she had just left and she told me to go in and meet the interior designer.  She also let us know our framing package will be delivered tomorrow and framing should start by the end of the week, weather permitting. 

Let me just say that I absolutely love the design of this Hammond model. I told their interior designer she has fabulous taste and to stop stealing my design ideas lol. 

They also seeded the entire development. There is hay lying everywhere. They poured half of the sidewalk at the front of the development as well. Things are moving along nicely.
